A Beautiful Goodbye: Capturing the Final Chapter of a Family’s Time in San Diego
Some stories are told through words, and others are told through moments—the kind that stay with you long after they’ve passed. This is one of those stories.
I have had the absolute honor of photographing Krysta and her growing family over the past few years, capturing love, loss, new beginnings, and milestones. Our most recent session at Windansea Beach in La Jolla marked the end of a cherished chapter as they prepare for their next adventure in a new state.
A Journey Through the Years
My journey with Krysta’s family began when they were a family of three, including their beloved dog, who has since passed. That session was filled with wagging tails, laughter, and the kind of deep connection that makes you want to freeze time.
Then came another session—this time in a studio—where they celebrated becoming a family of four, welcoming their newest little one. Krysta’s mother joined in, making it even more special. The bond between generations was undeniable, and it was a reminder of how important it is to document these moments.
The Final Chapter in San Diego
For their last San Diego session, Krysta chose the stunning coastal cliffs of Windansea Beach—a place that, like their time here, holds beautiful yet fleeting memories. The ocean waves crashed in the background, the sky was painted in soft hues of blue and gray, and the salty breeze wrapped around us as we climbed a few rocks to get the best shots.
Her two daughters wanted nothing more than to be held, a familiar experience for any parent. Instead of forcing perfect poses, we embraced the reality of the moment. The result was a collection of genuine, heartfelt images that tell a story of love, closeness, and transition.
Why These Photos Matter
Every session with this family has been a reminder of why photography is so important. These images are not just for today—they are for years from now, when memories fade, and families want to remember what life felt like in a specific season.
